1978 Edmonton, AB, Klondike Dollars 4-Piece Set (light wear)
Klondike Days originated in 1964, a renaming of the Edmonton Exhibition that had run from the city's founding in 1879. The name change coincided with the introduction of a kitschy aesthetic associated with the Klondike Gold Rush -- which actually happened much farther north in the Yukon, but Edmonton was a popular stopping point for prospectors headed that way. Klondike Dollars were popular souvenirs of these events and came with four gold rush-themed mint marks: hat, cane, shovel, and pick. This collection collects all four mint marks for the year 1978, contained in an attractive and informative folder.
Please note, this is a second-hand item that exhibits some light wear consistent with its age. Packaging shows some scuffs light discolouration.
